Sexual Harassment Prevention and Implicit Bias Trainings

SB 1721 takes effect on January 1, 2024. This legislation requires that all licensed hearing instrument dispensers have one hour of Implicit Bias Awareness training and one hour of Sexual Harassment Prevention training in each two-year renewal cycle.

The Illinois Hearing Society has arranged for all our members to receive these continuing education credits through the Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) at no cost. IDHR has a video recording of the Sexual Harassment Prevention training available for you to take at your convenience at the link below. Upon completion of the Sexual Harassment Prevention training, you must take a quiz, also linked below.

While there is no pre-recorded video of the Implicit Bias Awareness training, IDHR will be providing live online trainings each month. Due to the limited availability in IDHR’s Implicit Bias Awareness trainings before the end of the year, we are giving priority to anyone who needs to renew their license before February 15, 2024. Please email beth@ilhearing.org if you require Implicit Bias Awareness training for a renewal date before February 15. You will also be asked to complete a quiz after attending the live online training.

Illinois Hearing Society staff will submit completion records for these two CEs to International Hearing Society on December 15 and 29, and again on January 12 and 26. Beginning in February, completion records will only be submitted to International at the end of each month. If you need to receive proof of completion of these CEs sooner than our scheduled submission dates, please email beth@ilhearing.org.
